I'm installing new shower system and noticed that the main copper pipe that goes to the shower valve has some red spots and partially covered with concrete. My house has been built 3 years ago. I'm not sure if this is a something that should concern me. The pipe under the guard is in good shape. Do you recommend to cut entire section above the guard and replace with new pipes? Thanks for your advise.

Yes. The cost is minimal and the greening is caused by flux residue from the initial soldering of joints above, the concrete on the piping is corrosive and makes for working with cleaning the piping for soldering very difficult.

Make sure you wipe off all flux residue when finished with any soldering of copper piping.
