Hello, adding a stub wall that will "T" an existing wall. Question, where the new wall butts up to the existing, is it OK to leave the drywall on the exisiting wall or would it be better to remove the drywall where the walls meet?

In addition, I will need to tie the top of the new wall into a steel beam the runs parallel with the top, what is the best way to make this connection?

Finally, the beam is wider than the new wall, what is the best way to make this transition? Should I make the new wall wider to match the beam for a seamless look?

Thanks, Matt
