Looking for replacement engine for my Lowes rider. Currently has a electric start 14hp B&S engine. Other than bad engine, mower is like new. What replacements can I look for that will not require major modifications? Would a 15 or 16hp swap in? There seems to be a lot of these models on the used market. Haven't seen a single 14hp. Makes me wonder if there wasn't a problem with them.

As long as the crank lenght and diameter match up most any will work. If you have a single cylinder you wont have a fuel pump and will not need one if using a single. If you have a twin, you should have a fuel pump and may need one on a replacement engine or relocate the fuel tank.
