and how do I make it work with a rectangle room? I'm dealing with a 5.1 system and in my apt. had the rears ear level on the wall and pointing right at the sides of the couch (about 6-8 ft from your ears). For my house I want a nice clean look and will be mounting them along the ceiling.
Here's what I'm thinking:
center the center channel
fronts on a angle towards the couch
rears mounted perpendicular to the couch and aimed at the at the ears
OR should I arrange the room so I can get the rears behind the couch?
Thanks

Crutchfield use to give out that info on there site, I went buy there info and had a real good surround sound affect.
I cant recall the exact distances-
Front wall, (tv) i mounted the left and right speakers on the wall, 2 feet above the tv. center channel in the center, was 2 feet lower than the front left and right speaker.
The bass speaker I had on the floor, at the corner, angles out towards center.
Now my seating, say couch was 10 feet away from the front speakers.
The rear speakers were placed on the walls at the same height as the front left and right. They were placed 5 feet past the couch.
All my speakers had angle brackets so I could angle the direction to the center of the room. The center should actually be about 2 feet infront of you.
I hope this helps and some of this may be incorrect, but incase no one else gives ya some info you have something to go buy.,
