I am a newbie here on this site.
Just bought my first house 3 weeks ago. House is in excellent shape.
1700 square foot ranch, new windows, new roof, new driveway etc etc etc.
Pretty much the house needs a facelift (I believe most used houses would)
Anyway, bathroom is down to the studs including ceiling. For my re-build, it includes new bathtub, new lighting, vent fan, new vanity with double sinks, new toilet, all new plumbing, all sheetrocked, with fresh paint.
Pretty much brand new. As of this point, my concentration is on the bathroom and the kitchen. Project is currently over budget due to the kitchen being 20X13 and the extreme excess of cabinets needed. (long story)
To finish my bathroom 100%, I need a 6 foot vanity and countertop. The lighting is in place, and everything is pretty much done except for the vanity and tile. But the prices Ive come up with are way more than I want to spend. Where can I locate a countertop and vanity for cheap. Doesn’t have be to special. Oak vanity and cultured marble top would be sufficient.
Any ideas are welcome. Im in Connecticut if that matters.
Thanks
Nice Site!!!!!!

Jimdevjr,
You're not going to find a 72" vanity (one pc) unless it is a custom made unit. Best advice is to seek out returns at HD, Lowes, etc. They may have something that you could get at a reduced price. Sometimes even Kit and Bath stores may have something you could get. Minor flaws might be the reason for the return or just wrong size/color but you can choose what you like or don't like.
Countertops may be available but I doubt it. Doesn't hurt to try.
Internet sites might be worth a try but I feel it is important to actually see and touch what you are buying in this regard. No time for nasty surprises when you want things to look nice.
Good Luck!

I saw this on a show-put two 36" vanities or other cabinets (i.e. basic cabinets from any home improvement store) together. Or a 60" one with a 12" shelving unit on the side. You probably wouldn't be able to put a sink in the middle if you had the two units together, but you would have room for two sinks.

Buy various sized cabinets to total 72inches... screw them together as if you were installing a kitchen cabinet set..... cover with 3/4 plywood and a layer of Wonderboard... and put some nice tile on top.
