I have a ruud heat pump split system, its about 7 years old. I recently had the inside coil and air handler replaced. I also installed a luxpro psp722E digital thermostat. The unit works fine, except there are two problems.

1. The inside blower makes a noise when it shuts off- sometimes worse than other times.

2. The outside fan does not operate in the "fan on" position, only the blower works.

Is the fan suppose to work with the blower in the "fan on" setting?

The fan and blower work together when in the "auto" mode.

Are the two things listed above a problem? I would greatly appreciate any feedback about this matter.

1. what kind of noise? You may want to open it up and check for and loosness or anything stuck in the blower.

2. That's normal. The outdoor fan only comes on when the stat calls for the heatpump to run "whether it's calling for cooling or heating".
