Hey all. I have a concrete slab ceiling in my attached garage, with a finished room over it. The house is from the 40s. I am trying to mount some electrical stuff onto the ceiling, as part of a shop remodel, and I absolutely cannot drill into this thing. I am using a corded Dewalt, pretty powerful, with all different kinds of masonry bits. I can get about 1/8" into it and that's about it.

Any ideas? This stuff is way harder than any concrete I've seen before, I can drill through the cinderblock wall like butter compared to this. Do I need to use a hammer drill or something?

Thanks for any advice...

Will

You may be running into rebar. I have been there doing construction work. A hammer-drill and patience are what it takes. You need good bits to get the job done. A good bit will go through the rebar but it takes time and a lot of muscle.. good luck.
