Hello!
We bought a home a few month's ago and after a few months we noticed we had lost alot of water pressure in our shower..Well it seem's that a pipe or somthing has came loose behind the shower stall..Now are floor's are damaged and there is mold growing in my daughter's closet which is on the other side of the shower..My question is should i report this on my homeowner's insurance will they help me repair this?I have a $1000.00 deductible which i would much rather pay than the 5 or 6 grand i am looking at to have this work done..
Any help would be greatly appreciated..
Thanx
Brian

If it was me I would file a claim, although you will more than likely face a prem increase. But then again if your prems increase by say 30.00 a month it would take yrs and yrs to make up that 7k that you would have paid out of pocket... thats what insurance is for anyway.

Thankyou for your reply!
Yeah that's what we wanted to do is file a claim. But we were unsure whether ins would cover the damage..
Thankyou!

I would suggest taking your policy out and giving it a good read. You should be able to determine if the water damage is covered. Many policies won't cover it if the company determines the damage happened over a long period of time. Othewise, if you report it as soon as you know about it, they may cover it.
Hope this helps!

Yeah alot of times they don't cover MOLD removal but its not a real big deal in many cases because usually they cover the repairs that include the items that got wet such as the drywall and many times the drywall has the mold.

Ok the restoration company called today and the insurance company approved them to come on in and fix it..They won't remove mold but they will remove eveything that is wet which mean's most the mold...They have to replace both our bathroom floor's, several wall's, carpet in 3 room's all of our linoleum in the kitchen and half the floor in the kitchen..I was amazed there was that much damage..And my deductible was only $500 and we have worked alot of that off removing the old tiles out of the bathroom's and other stuff..
Thanx for the help!
