Anyone know of a website or free software/application where one can produce some basic floor plans/elevation? I'd be content with something similar to what Home Depot kitchen "designers" use, in which they are able to produce these measured drawings with a few minutes of entering measurements.

those looked pretty complex for the average Joe. i've found some simpler ones just for furniture arranging. one is a room planner at www.furniturelandsouth.com and the other is Arrange-a-Room at www.bhg.com. the latter also has color-a-room and color-a-house programs for selecting paint. i think most paint manufacturers like benjamin moore, Behr & sherwin-williams also have color selectors like that.

but i haven't found a free program for elevations or 3D views.

if all you're doing is just floor plans with no furniture pieces, you can also do a pretty good job just using Excel. just start by making all the rows & columns equal size so it's like graph paper. 1 square = 1 foot.

Thanks Annette and em69; Hey em69, are you aware of a PARTICULAR program available thru freecad.com that would produce elevations from floorplans?

Punch makes a bunch of different programs for floor/house plans that have 3D views, and they're not that expensive when you buy them locally, maybe $30 at Sam's. www.punchsoftware.com
