Flooring Tile - Kitchen floor... How does this happen?

This forum seems to cover topics that are closest to my problem.

My kitchen floor in my condo I believe has vinyl tiles that are about a foot square each but lately it seems that the tiles are shifting all over the place. There are gaps in between the tiles and many of them are crooked and there is even some buckling of the tiles near the sink.

What I cannot understand is this. How can this happen? When I try and manually move the tiles on my own, they are solidly glued to the floor and simply don't move and yet they have shifted all over the place.

The floor in the kitchen is always dry. How can these tiles move around like this when I cannot move or lift up a single one of them? Is this normal? Is this some kind of crazy illusion or something? I just don't see how all of them can move like this when they all appear to be glued down very well.

What kind of tiles?

Peel and stick or the thicker, stronger type tiles that require a separate adhesive?

Any hot water pipes running directly under your floor?
