I recently bought an older Magnavox console TV (model # CS4538) from a coworker. Got it home, hooked everything into an A/V source selector, then into the TV's A/V inputs. Everything was just fine for about a week, except that the brightness needed to be completely maxxed out (using a THX optimizer on a DVD to set the levels).
Now all of a sudden, i turned it on yesterday and the picture is twitchy , or jumpy, i'm not really certain the best way to describe it. It seems to be a horizontal twitch. It is annoying enough that i can't watch anything on it and must fix immediately.
You see, i would really hope to be able to fix this myself, as a trip to the repair shop involves borrowing a truck and a friend to haul it downstairs, and i am quite lazy.

you try twisting and jiggling the cables to see if it is possibly a loose connector or connection.
