I just moved into a new house with a brinks security system. The phone line to the system is not connected and so it beeps every night at 11:00.
We have disconnected the back-up battery, but cannot figure out how to disconnect the main power supply. It appears as if the hardwired it into the electrical supply.
I called brinks and they said just to hit the cancel button twice. This has done absolutely nothing.
At my old house we had an ADT system. A DSC brand. It was plugged into an electrical outlet. When we had a problem with the phone system we had to unplug it and disconnect the battery to make it stop beeping. I wonder if this is the same thing.
I have removed the panel from the wall and there is no model no. on it anywhere. The only thing information that I have is that the error codes are CP in big letters and trouble underneath it in smaller letters. This is on the left side of the display.
Any help is very much appreciated.

Yes, if you are not planning to subscribe to Brinks services, your only real choice is to power the panel down. Most Brinks hardware is hardcoded to their system. Usually there is no practical way to make a Brinks panel work as a stand-alone.
They do have a couple of models that can be reprogrammed, but it's more hassle than it's generally worth. If you want a security panel, plan on replacing the control and keypads (if it's not wireless, the rest of the devices are generic, and will work with a different control).

Thank you, that is kind of what I thought. Is there any real way to power it down without cutting the wires? I was kind of hoping not to do that because we are thinking of setting up the service at some point.

Unplug the battery, then unplug the power pack from the wall plug.
