Hi,

I'm trying to add a wireless keypad to an working vista 15P system.
I already know how to install the keypad but, in order to do that I
need to get the installer code to change the house ID. I don't know the
installer code and one way of getting into programming mode is
to use Installer Code + 800 and usually the installer code is the
model of the central control panel (i'm guessing).

1. I don't know what the model number is. Is there a way to find it
out or where it will be located on the panel?

2. If I cannot get installer code, I can powerdown the whole system
and use *+# within 30 seconds to get into programming mode.
Now, if I power down the whole system, will I be losing all the
zone assignments?. Do I have to start from scratch?

3. ADT is currently monitoring the system so, i'm going to call
them to put the system in "Test" mode while I do this. When I
power down will it cause any false alarm at ADT?

Thank you for all the help.

A: The default for the 15/20p models is 4112. If you have an ADT installed system, the code is probably 6321.

2. If I cannot get installer code, I can powerdown the whole system
and use *+# within 30 seconds to get into programming mode.
Now, if I power down the whole system, will I be losing all the
zone assignments?. Do I have to start from scratch?

A: No. The data is in an eeprom. The data stays unless you change it.

3. ADT is currently monitoring the system so, i'm going to call
them to put the system in "Test" mode while I do this. When I
power down will it cause any false alarm at ADT?

A: The panel might send a low battery signal, but that's about it.

Thank you for all the help.

You shouldn't have too much trouble on this. If the system already has wireless, then adding your wireless keypad shouldn't be a big deal.

Thanks a lot.

I installed the keypad without any issues and the installer code 6321
turned out to be the correct one.

Thanks again.
