I just had my heat pump/air conditioner replaced because of a bad compressor. However, I still have some mornings where the air conditioner is not running when it should. I have to turn the air off at the thermostat, then turn it back on, then its fine. Does this mean my thermostat needs replacing? This was also happening before the air conditioner replacement. (Until the morning it wouldn't restart, and it got replaced!) Doesn't happen every morning, and occasionally has happened in the afternoon. Thanks for your help, after replacing the unit I can't afford any more expensive repairs!

You could try a new stat but it sounds like you're having a problem with a high limit switch or other safety in the airhandler.
What brand of furnace do you have and does it have diagnostic lights inside of it??
