I'd like to do a small area in venetian plaster and have found some copper acrylic plaster. Would this work to do faux VP? I see talk all the time about waxing over the plaster but never have seen what wax is actually used to do it .. any help?

There are many waxes used to apply on top of VP. Liberon is one. Trewax is another, those smell! Then there is the Cera waxes that already have the metallic in them. What and where did you find cooper acrylic plaster?

Thanks for the reply!!

I found the metallic plaster through a link on this board actually. Metallicmart.com is the site. Here is their description of the product. I am doing the backsplash in a small and lightly used kitchen. : ) I just didn't know if the metallic plaster would work since it is actually acrylic. I'm open to suggestion.

Pearl Paste is a heavy bodied pearlescent acrylic plaster. Charactericstics... * Exceptionally high shimmer and light reflection * Durable interior performance * Broad tint and color acceptance * High viscosity with excellent tooling strength * Ease of application * Non-Toxic and Non-Reactive

As far as acheiving the look, it looks like that would do it. How it will stand up in a kithcen ????? I have never used that product. All I can tell you is metallics general don't perform will by water(sinks). You could email them and ask directly if they have tested for tarnish! Even the VP we use does not perform well @ sinks, or stoves mainly for the grease exposure. We varnish protect it on those areas only. And FYI we use an Oil base varnish. If I remember correctly the grease went right through the dry latex varnish on the test boards.

Thanks again. I was wondering if it would work well in a kitchen. I might have the one kitchen it would work in .. it's never used!! : )
