Getting ready to build our dream home and wondering if we should go with metal roofing or shingles. Doing 90% of the build ourselves, including the roofing. I like how metal roofs look and the warranty that comes with them. Just wondering if anyone knows how much more it costs to do a metal roof, and if it's more difficult(or easier) to apply than shingles. We've done plenty of shingled roofs. Are there any disadvantages to metal roofs? Thanks,

Ron

Do metal roof manufacturers give warantees on DIY installations?

Depends if you RTFM and follow it.

A few have training programs you have to go thru. I got no problem with that. If I can't get the warranty without having a "pro" install it, then maybe I will see what the install cost will be. With 62 square tho, I don't think I'll like the price....

The shingle cost to do it myself is around $4300.....

I'm sure, I designed the home myself. 2600sq.ft. ranch with an attatched 40'x27' BIG 3 car garage......
