I have a Kenmore Dryer, Model 86682810, Serial #M81406987, that was in my house when I bought it. It has stopped heating (drum still turns). I'm trying to figure out how old the dryer is to see if it's worth fixing. Can you tell that from the Mod/serial #?

Sears being a department store, does not make their appliances. There are 16 manufacturers that made appliances for Sears. The model number you gave SHOULD have helped but I find no model starting with 866 to tell me who made it. You will have to call a Sears repair department to ask who made it and how old it is. Sorry.
