my mobile home is about 8 years old and i think my heat pump went out. Earlier today all of my lights got really dim (not out) and i had to reset some clocks. well a few hours later i realized it was almost 90 in my house. when i checked the floor vents, i realized they were blowing out luke warm air. the unit outside is not doing anything at all. so i asked my mom what she though and she said there might be a reset button on the unit outside...well i cant find it. i made a call to a repair guy, but the office was closed, so my son and i have to melt until tomorrow or even next week. has anyone else had this happen, or know what i should do. :wall:

Welcome to the forum

Check the outside breaker - should be 30amp. If it isn't simple like a tripped breaker it will likely take a tech to diagnose it.

thank you marksr...you said to check the breaker outside. i went out and there is a box on the side of the house next to the unit. when i opened it there was an on/off handle (that doesnt move) and a tab underneath the handle (that also doesnt move). am i looking in the right place? i also noticed a sticker that says 60 amp (does that sound right?) anyway, hopefully the a/c guy can come out tomorrow to look at it, unless i can figure this out before i talk to them. thanks again!!

I'm guessing that with a 60amp breaker outside it must not be a split system and the whole unit is powered outside. The on/off handle should move but it does take a bit of effort. If the heat pump is powered by the 60amp it would include the fan so I doubt it is a tripped breaker. You might try reposting in the heat pump section [under plumbing]. Sorry I couldn't be of more help.

Even though your home should be at least 100amp svs., some of the older parks only provide 60 amp svs. I would think that 60 amp would be too much for just the Heat Pump. Are there additional breakers under the 60? You may be looking at the main disconnect? If this is the case you may be experiencing a brown out which should have tripped the main. If the main did not trip, it may be defective and a possible hazard. Do you have a breaker in your interior box marked for the Heat Pump? If so, make sure that the 110 breaker (single to the furnace, if you have a furnace) is turned on and shut off any OTHER double breakers (220 breakers) and see what happens. You may have an overload and need to upgrade the main service.
