It's a stupid college thing, but I want to have a really nice beerpong table, cheap. I have done my research, and done the work, and have built a very nice 4ft by 8ft table with edges, and reinforced trusses on the bottom, however now that I have glued the beertops onto the painted table, I am stuck with a question. I made a coffee table in the same manner, and used the resin material (envirolux or whatever) as other people mention in the resin and laquer postings, but it was expensive, and I was not extremely impressed, speaking as a college student, anything that expensive better be pretty damn amazing.
SO now onto my question, would polyurethane dry to about a 1/4" thick? I need it to cover the beerpong tops, and create a level table- so our beer doesn't spill.
I know technically it isn't the best option, and it will take a while to dry, but I was hoping someone could just reassure me it will dry eventually, and give me a time frame perhaps that if I applied the polyurethane friday that I could be playing.
THANK YOU!
Steve

Hi
Nope poly will not dry 1/4 thick
you might try polymere mixture it's 2 part (resin and hardner)
or put a plexiglass over the table

what about multiple applications of poly?
how thick can i make each coat?
will it bond to the other coats?

It would probably take a dozen or more coats. Your best bet is to apply more of the 2 part epoxy resin. I assume you didn't get enough on the first time.
