I have a kenmore washer where the cold water on wash/rinse cycles is at a trickle. I'm assuming this would be a inlet valve problem as there was no debris in the screen. My questions is would I replace the valve from the back of the machine or remove the top to get to the valve.
BTW, for some reason I do not have access to the forum search function.
Does anyone know the best way to fix this? I sent email to the website and forum administrators.
Thanks
Ron

If your valves are screwed onto a 7" x 7" plate, I would say from the back, if not then go with the top.
Some valves can be taken apart and cleaned.
The search function comes and goes. you may need to scroll down to see the results.
The forum titles over lap other lower titles by 50% on my 15" monitor. its annoying.
Anyway you can get some good help from the forums .

Thanks.
I'm assuming I should start with the valve. There is also a sensor that detects
water temperature. I've never used this function but feel it's another part that can break.
Thanks,
Ron

My washer is doing the same, and it makes a loud humming noise.
Where is the screen located ?
I have a 7 X 7 plate on the back of my Whirlpool .
Thanks

" Where is the screen located ? "
The water lines that screw into the back of your machine.
unscrew the water lines look inside the hole you should see the screens.
or they can be molded into the rubber washers for the water lines. look in the hose both ends.
============================
" and it makes a loud humming noise. "
is the noise coming from the valves ?
magnetic coils can become noisy if they get loose or the plunger inside the valve gets corroded.
you may need to tighten the screws that hold the valve to your plate.
for about $15.00 you can change most valves.
=========================
Just a note:
if the water line hoses are old, change them with good quality hoses.
I know people that had a hose burst and flood the house while they were at work for 8 hours.

Thanks GWIZ, I can make the humming noise disappear by moving the hoses around.
I bought a new inlet valve yesterday, but now I've got another problem. The water valve in the wall is not shutting off, must be jammed up with calcium deposits. So, I've got to get that valve fixed before working on the washer.
