Hello everyone,
I have a big problem. Our dog was being watched by my mother-in-law and they put her in the bathroom in the bedroom that has no door. The entry way was blocked by a baby gate so our puppy/maltese couldn't get out. They put it up about 2 inches so she couldn't jump over it but also put it next to area were the tile and the carpet meet. Our puppy
destroyed about 1 1/2 inches of the carpet. My buddy said that the old carpet can be stretched about 1 to 2 inches, is that possible. The carpet is about 4 years old. Also, is there anything else we can do to fix this problem. The house is a very nice house. I remember an aunt of my wifes has a transition of different tiles that seperate the carpet from the tile in her house. Is that expensive, we are on a limited budget but need to remedy this problem. Any advise would be greatly appreciated. Thank You!!!

I'm not a carpet layer, but I don't think carpeting in a bedroom will stretch that much.
You might use either a wood threshold or one made from marble. The marble ones are usually available in various widths at tile supply houses. You could glue it down with liquid nails and later remove it when you re-carpet. It it's a wood sub-floor, the wood one might be better. Marble needs 100% support.
