I need to remove some Medeco double cylinder dead bolts, so that I can plane a bevel on a customer's doors. I think they are commercial locks--sort of conical, cast eschuteons @ 1" thick, and "drive -in" type bolts. The eschuteons rotate with some trouble, and it looks like a "sheet metal" plate behind the one on the inside of the door.
I'd appreciate some help here guys, seems like every time I think I've seen 'em all........

Hi neolitic,

The Medeco double deadbolts have a disguised spring clip on the inside face of the lock. (Looks like a thin piece of wire. Really thin.) To remove them, I use a little flatblade screw driver to lift it out of the grove it's in. It's kind of dificult, and it's easy to scratch the faceplate of the lock. Some of the others like WGW may have a better method than the flatblade screw driver. Look closely, the little wire ring is there.

Guess I'll take my magnifier specs, and try it in the morning.
Thanks :)

Thats all i use or and old pocket knife. Once you get that off there will be 2 allen wrench head screws. Just take them out and both sides will come off

Thanks...youse guys is geniuses!
Jewelers screw driver worked great, most important tool was +2 diopter reading glasses so I could SEE the lil bugger.
It's always the little "Sure I can fix that while I'm here" jobs that bite me.
Thanks again.
