My Tile Wall in the Bathroom Shower has a Cave in on the back wall. Help! What options do I have? Can I repair this? If yes how? House is 25yrs old has drywall behind the wall. If I need to remove the tile which is 4 1/2 in by 4 1/2 squares can it be saved or should I just start over from scratch?

Hello Betsy,

We don't repair showers made from sheetrock. We tear them out and start from scratch using better materials behind the tiles. It is extremely difficult to save the tiles, and 4-1/4 tiles are inexpensive, so don't bother. Everything comes out right down to the studs and sub floor. If you decide to do this yourself, you'll need a lot of help. Come back.

Hi Betsy;

John is correct drywall is not the stuff!
your much better off starting from scratch!
If you simply repair it its only a matter of time before the other walls cave in as well.
Unfortunately there are builders out there that are still using "Green board" In showers and around tubs. (I would like to get a hold of a few of those !@#$% builders.)
Tear it all out and then come back and we will do our absolute best to help you out!

Regards and Good Luck
