I have a 12'x18' entertainment room for my 3 sons that I can't get to work. Two adjacent walls work as passageways to other parts of the house (one now has built-in bookshelves along it). The two remaining adjacent walls have a sliding glass door in the corner between them, and one of those walls has a painted brick fireplace we haven't used in years. I've yet to find a place to put the TV/game consules, PC and desk area, and appropriate seating for 3 boys who range in size from 6' to 4'. We've stopped using the sliding door, tried the TV on 3 of the 4 walls. I'm now thinking of putting a built-in entertainment unit covering the fireplace or building half-walls.

I'd appreciate any suggestions you may have- thanks!

i'd reconfigure the bookshelves before i'd cover up a fireplace. is there a center section on that bookcase that you could bump out and create a built-in entertainment center in? you could elongate one of the shelves enough to accomodate the depth of a tv, and then the area below could be doored in like a cabinet and hide all the electronic equipment & DVDs, etc.

and you can float a desk - it doesn't have to be up against a wall.
