Amana Electronic Side-By-Side With Ice 'N Water Dispenser - Model No. SZDE27MW, Serial No. 9110140800, Manufacturing No. P1124401WW.
Right after we moved into our present home this past March, we noticed our refrigerator door was making a popping sound everytime we opened and closed it. This weekend we realized that the electronic display had no lights and everything in the freezer section was thawing out. The refrigerator section was warm, but the interior light came on when door was opened.
We discovered the source of the problem was that the idiot movers had removed then reinstalled the food storage door incorrectly causing the wiring harness that runs from the top hinge to the bottom of the door to eventually shear off at the bottom end. Besides replacing the wiring harness, we would also like to replace the rubber seal/gasket that surrounds the door. The existing one is stretched out and deteriorated.
We're having a heck of a time trying to identify the correct part numbers. We've been unable to find a site that has a picture of the harness. This is a multiple wire harness, about 6' long with plastic connectors at each end. We've called several places and described the part, but have received differing part numbers from different vendors. Does anyone on this forum have a repair manual or parts list for this unit? If so, could you help us with the part numbers? Once we have the right part #s, we can check prices. Also, is this a project for a DIYer? I think we can handle replacing the door seal/gasket, but not sure about the harness. If not, what should I expect to pay a technician to take care of it? How long will it take a trained person to accomplish?
We live in the San Francisco Bay Area in California. Thanks for your help.
