Who is the best person to contact to do work on a concrete slab in the patio. It needs to be raised up a few inches for a room addition. Thanks, Don

You're probably better off having someone tear out the old and pour a new slab instead of pouring a few inches over the existing slab. The incremental cost isn't that much and you get a better floor for the room addition.

Will the room addition have its own footers? If no, then definitely do a tear out and replace.

What do you estimate the cost would be for tearing out the slab, a chunk of concrete with dimensions about 17 x 21. The edge of the slab measures 6 inches. I don't know if it is the same throughout or not. I am not that experienced at talking about slabs and footers. I know the footers would be right under the spot where the walls would go---I think. Is tearing out the old and getting a new slab the kind of job I can get done by going directly through a concrete man??

Depends on where you are, but $6 per square foot seems pretty prevalent. As always, get a couple estimates.

Yes, the footer supports the wall. Where do you plan on putting the walls - over the existing slab or outside of them?

Yes, call a concrete person. Should find dozens in the phone book.
