I have an A/C system in a new home and I have had a number of people suggest to me that I should have someone in to "Balance" the system to optimize flow etc. Is this something that I should be considering in having done? Is it of real benefit? I suspect the builder did little to ensure the system was optimized when it was put in. I do notice that the rooms in the house get warmer as I move up but I assume this is nature. I would appreciate your thoughts. Thanks. Harv.

The installer should have balanced it to begin with but on new construction a lot of the times the builder cuts every corner they can to save a buck. You can try some balancing if you like by shutting down the lower level dampers maybe 15% - 25% and leaving the upper level open. In the winter you may have to do the oposite.
