I have 6 lines of cable (RG6) running to different rooms from one area in the basement. Since they're not connected at either ends, how can I test each in order to know which lines are connected to which room. I thought of using the tongue test with a 9v battery. Is there a simpler way?
Thanks.

If you have a multimeter, it's simple...(If you don't, you outta get one, they are soooo handy. A cheap one is fine.)
On the remote end of one piece of coax, temporarily connect the wire in the center of the coax to the screw-on connection (get creative here, there's many ways to do it--maybe stick a screw into the end so that it touches both parts, or use a short wire with alligator clips). Now, set your multimeter to an Ohms setting, go to where all the ends come together and see which cable has continuity from the screw-on connection to the center wire. Repeat with each cable. (Be sure to go back and "unshort" the coax before hooking things up.)
Good luck!
