View Full Version : Face nail aluminum fascia - why not?
I've read in a couple of places that you shouldn't face nail aluminum fascia. I understand why you shouldn't do so with vinyl, but why not aluminum? I would like to nail my fascia along the top edge where it will be covered by the drip edge or gutter apron... why shouldn't I? Note--I'll still nail through the bottom leg. Comments? Thanks.

If it's covered with gutter, nail away. Nails can pucker aluminum fascia, so that's probably why you've read that. But if it's covered with gutter, you can nail right in the middle of the fascia and it's all covered anyway. No need to nail the bottom edge, it's not going anywhere.
Gable ends are a different story.
Sweet. That's what I thought. It will be covered with gutter.
Thanks!
