I have a 36" Toshiba model CX35D80 TV that will not start. The set is about ten years old. The wall receptacle checks out OK and the fuses are all OK. When the set is plugged in power seems to go into the set, the power LED comes on momentarily and it sounds as if a relay is trying to close, which is followed by a static crackle around the picture tube then nothing. The TV worked fine a couple of months ago in our garage but when we brought it into the house last week the symptoms above started happening. Any suggestions on where to start for repair would be appreciated. Also, is it even worth the trouble? Thank you for any advice or suggestions.

Worked when it was in the garage and then moved into the house it does not.

Sounds like you already had the back off of it,

I'm not to familiar with that model, So I am hoping someone else can help you better.

IF you have checked to make sure no wires or loose or nothing has become slightly loose in the unit.

Now in crt monitors, I have came across a pop, when the low power supply kicked in, but the high power supply would not and then the whole thing would kick off due to the high power supply not working.

Does this sound like what you were describing ?

But there would be no flash or anything at all with the picture screen, if there was, then it could be likely the tube has failed.

Perhaps you will get lucky and just knocked something loose in moving it, if not and something has failed, I doubt it is something worth repairing unless its under $100.

the unit being 10 years old, the mfg does not have to supply parts for the tv anymore, not saying if something has failed, that its still not out there.

Sorry cant be of more help, There are a few moderators on here that know the insides of tv's better than me.

My wife and I were married almost two years ago and when things were combined we had an abundance of TV's. This 36" was kept in the garage until we were able to find a place for it inside the house. I turned it on occaisionally on weekends if I was in the garage working on a project. I took the back off the set after we moved it inside and would not come on. I then checked all of the fuses and looked for any loose wiring or connections. It does sound as you described about the low power supply starting and the high power supply cutting out before anything can come on. The screen does not flash or anything. Thank you for your opinion and advice. Hopefully with others' advice I can decide what to do with this set.
