Please help! I am having a hard time with my washer not draining properly. If I juggle the hose enough, with the hose going down it drains but as soon as I try to put the hose up the water stops draining. What do you think? :wall:

sandydee01, Welcome to the DIY Forums.
I am not the expert here but I know they are going to ask for the name and Model number of the washer. Also the age. Personally, it sounds like the pump went out. Watch this post for the experts opinion and please reply back with the requested info. Good luck.

Sears doesn't make washers or any appliance for that matter. There are a lot of manufacturers that make washers for them. Although all washers do the same thing for the most part they each have their own quirks. If you decide to post the make and model# it will go a long way to solving your problem. There is someone in this forum who mave have a simple fix for you,but a make and model# is needed imo.

Most washers will not spin with the lid open.Since your washer does spin it is unlikely the lid switch. Try to start the washer in the spin- drain cycle. If the motor makes no sound check the lid switch. The fact that it drains when the hose is below the water level I think would mean ,to me anyway, that the pump is not blocked, maybe seized, or that the hose is kinked when it is up. See if the pump spins freelyCheck the hose from the outer basket to where it goes into the drain pipe. For kinks

These are just my opnons. Like I said there is someone here who knows washers very well and if you post the info will probaly have a fix.
