We recently had our walkout basement converted to a 2-stall garage. We decided to install the ceiling drywall ourselves. My question is about instaling around the garage door openers that have already been installed. Do I need to take all that hardware down before installing the ceiling? I am having a hard time seeing how to install the drywall flush with all the brackets that hold the garage door openers to the ceiling studs. If anyone has tackled a similar task, I'd love to know how you handed this.

Was this a permitted project and how was the migration of automotive related, potentially asphyxiating fumes into the living space addressed?
