I hope I explaine this ok!
To the left of our entry we have a curved staircase. The ends of the treads and risers stick out about 1 1/2" past the curved wall which had all been wrapped with carpet, now torn out. We had an estimate of 5k which is out of our budget to have it trimmed and skirted. We have 2 options, either fur out the wall so it's flush with the ends of the treads/risers, which we don't want to do or move the entire handrail unit back, which we don't want to do as it would eliminate space needed to move furniture up/down the stairs.
We don't like the look of the carpet being wrapped and would like to trim/skirt this out.
Any ideas on how to trim/skirt this and what materials to use?
Thanks so much!

Welcome to the forum
Not exactly sure what you are trying to do but 1/4 plywood [comes in oak, birch, etc] will bend easier than a thick board. 3 - 1/4 peices laminated together makes up the same thickness as a standard 1x. Often curved walls and curved wood work is multi layered [for easy bending -1pc at a time] to make the bend. Hope this helps :)
