Coil on inside unit froze up last week. The unit is located on the 2nd story over the garage and water soaked the ceiling in the garage. HVAC man came out, cleaned and put in 2# R22. Unit is cooling now but can't get humidity below 70%. I tore a big hole in the garage ceiling to help get the moisture out, it is bone dry now. Am I expecting too much thinking the humidity should be lower by now? House temps range from 65-69 degrees but it just doesn't feel cool or comfortable.
House is 2 story, 2200 sq ft. Unit is Rheem 10 seer, 1997 model
matched with a Rheem Criterion II.

What size is your AC condensor and what length of time are your normal AC operating cycles?

Air Filter regularly changed out? Did service tech check and clean your evap coil on last visit?

Suggest you take RH measurement in several rooms both upstairs and downstairs over several days and record this information. If RH does not come down, then I would get tech back out to house. Normal RH depending on area of country you live should be 50-55.

Good Luck!
