what is the best way to dig the holes for a new peir (36" deep) under the existing porch... the framing is good and therefore in the way of getting a straight run at digging the holes... no room for a power auger so this will be done by hand... assuming the peir should finish above grade but by how much?
hopeful...

I only need to dig the for piers at the outside edge of one side, but it still seems like digging 3ft. straight down will be a trick with the edge of the existing porck in the way, no?

Dig down along and under the deck where you need to put the pier. Put in a Sonotube (cardboard form for concrete) and fill around the Sonotube with soil.
Fill the tube with concrete and insert the type of attachment you wish into the wet concrete.
