CAn anyone give me some ideas on painting my tile back splash. I want to add color to my kitchen.
I have not painted tile decoratively and don't intend to start, but I have seen the results of hand painted stenciled tile and it was done tastefully. A trip to a crafts store might produce more ideas.
Jenna:
There's a company called Zinsser that makes a lot of specialty paints. They have two primers that you might be interested in. The oil based primer is called "BIN", and Zinsser ads claim it'll stick to anything short of a raw egg yolk, and they do claim it sticks well to glazed ceramic tile. They also have a water based primer called Bullseye 123 that I've used, and it seems to stick to just about everything too, but I haven't used it on ceramic tiles.
Over top of that, you can use whatever you want, but if this is a kitchen backsplash, I would use a fairly glossy paint like satin or better just for easy cleaning.
