I've posted this on the duct forum but haven't received any responses so I'm hoping someone here can help me. Our house is less than 4 years old and I have just noticed quite a bit of mold in several of our air vents. There is one main unit (3.5 ton) located in the attic. It has 2 zones, one for the main living area (about 2400 sq ft) and another for the FROG (about 400 sq ft). The vents and ducts with the most amount of mold are nearest the unit that is located in the attic. In other words, the lines to these vents are short. All of the air vents and ducts have some mold although most have just a few spects while the two located closest to the unit are almost covered in it. What would be causing this? I have contacted several people to give me an estimate for cleaning the ducts but no one has been able to give me a reason for why it is happening. They are just interested in cleaning the system. One guy did tell us that we needed to call an AC person and told us a couple of things: (1) there is no bypass damper (2) there is no balancing dampers (3) the return ducts are attached directly to end of furnace (4) there are only 2 ducts in the FROG. Any ideas what might be causing the mold? Also, is there anywhere else that I should look for mold?
Thanks.
Thanks.
