I am remodeling my kitchen with a tile floor. I have removed the old linoleum and have installed a subfloor of 1/4 plywd (over pre-existing wood flr and joists). This has been secured with a pwr nailer. This floor is not going anywhere. Can I stop here and tile or do I need to add to this subflr?

Sounds like a good solid subfloor; now you need to fasten down a 1/4 or 1/2 inch cement backerboard like "Hardibacker" or "Ultraboard". Use a coat of thinset tile adhesive on the plywood, then while it is still wet, the cement board is nailed down with roofing nails. Make sure it's nice and level, because your tile will accurately follow the contour of the backerboard.
