I removed some wall tile to make a plumbing repair and now i would like to reuse the tile but it was put on with thin set can any one tell me how to remove the thin set from the back of the tiles

Thin set will be a lot harder and more difficult to remove if they mixed a lot of additives in it when the tile was set. If they didn't use a lot of additive, I would try to scrape it off with a SHARP paint scraper, and have a 1" belt sander handy to sharpen that paint scraper often. If this method seems to work, you may want to buy Sanvik's tungsten carbide bladed paint scraper. I have one and I like it, but I've never used it for what you want to do.
