My wife and I recently bought a 9pc dining room set at an antique market, after getting it home I noticed the dining room table is a veneer top and the veneer is a little brittle on certain edges, also the table top it self shows a bunch of cracks in the finish that came through after using some furniture restorer. It is all over the top and much different from the leaf inserts. I was wondering if I should reveneer the entire top or refinish by sanding it or maybe some compound and a fresh coat of lacquer, Is the veneer too old and need replacing?

Any help would be great thanks
