I need to hang some shop cabinets on a brick wall in the garage. I was considering using lag bolts/screws into lag anchors. My question is do they go into the mortar or the brick?

I'd use Tapcons (blue 1/4" cement screws) and drill into the mortar joints, provided they are solid and not powdery.

Thanks. I need to reconsider my options here. There is going to be a door nearby and I don't want anything hanging out too far.
