I am in the process of putting the proper kind of roof on my patio as I am in the process of enclosing it and making an extra bedroom and maybe a utility room and bathroom. It covers about 17-2 x 20-11.
I contacted the county code inforcement folks. As it has been for many, many years, the patio rafters are attached 24 OC to a 2x4 nailed onto the facia board at the rear of the house, then covered with fiber glass. I'm told that if I keep a flat roof, I would need to attach the rafters to the top plate of the back wall somehow. That makes sense to me, but I'm not sure how to go about it. The back wall is bricked. Do I need to take out brick at the top of the wall and go in from that direction?? If you have information on this kind of project, I would appreciate hearing from you.
Thanks
Don
