I am repainting my house and will not be able to avoid walking on my roof over my front porch to paint the dormer up above. I was wondering if there are any tips on how to keep from damaging my room (10 years old). I thought I heard someone mentioning placing 4 inch thick foam rubber up there first and walking on it to displace the weight. Please advise soon.

You will not damage your roof by walking on it if you follow these few simple rules. Wear tennis shoes, not hard sole shoes. Only get on the roof when the temperature is less then 70 degrees. Step slowly and quietly. Do not mar the shingles. The foam is used when you are working on your roof and it keeps you from slipping. Good Luck

What Jack said plus, do not twist your feet, if you have a move take a step. Twisting your feet will take the granules off the shingles.
