Outdoor carpeting Over Deck?

Rather than trying to remove the old tired stain from my deck and restaining, I am considering throwing some plywood over the decking and adding outdoor carpeting. Anyone with experience that has any recommendations, do's or dont's, or any advice would be greatly appreciated. THANKS!

You'd get good results if you removed all your current decking and installed 3/4 (exterior grade) marine plywood. You can certainly go over the top if the added height isn't a problem, such as raising the floor too high at doorways or making your top step higher than the others. (that's a no-no), or if the current deck boards are flat, not warped.
