I have noticed cracks in the drywall around my fireplace & have been told that the areas must have gotten wet at some point and dried out. What would be the best way to fix the affected areas?

Hard to say why it cracked. May not of been wet at all. Anyway, where are the cracks? in a corner? out in the open on the wall? Be specific.

The cracks extend out diagonally at the bottom from the fireplace towards the baseboards
