How far it is legally correct to drive a vehicle without an auto insurance, under the private property insurance?

If it's a vehicle you just purchased, depends on the state, but probably 3 days.

If you bought it from a dealer, no reputable dealer will let you leave the lot without insurance.

Make the auto insurance effective the day you pick up the car. You may think you drive fine and don't have to worry about it, but what if you get hit by a driver who also does not have insurance? Then you are out a lot of $$ in repairs.

Most states here in Louisana any way if you already have full coverage auto insurance for another car you can buy and drive your new one up unitl 30 days before you MUST get additional insurance for it. Dealer won't let the car off the lot if its not insured either way.

Slidell is correct. Most states give 30 days IF you have full coverage on another car. You have 30 days to let your current carrier know you have purchased a new vehicle. The dealer SHOULD require proof of insurance. In Utah they are required to have proof of insurance before you drive it off the lot or they (the dealer) become liable.
