Controller port are not working. I replace it with a new one plus ribbon and they still won't work. What can I do next? Also, what is the easiest way to make the cable ribbon stay in place? those little clips are a pain in the you know what?

what happened before the controller ports stopped working? Can you borrow another controller to make sure that you don't have a bad one?
I'm not sure what Sony orginally used, but I think some double sided tape should work to hold the cable in place. If you carefully used 2 pieces of electrical tape, one under the ribbon and the other on top, that may work too.
I think these cables have metal wiring on one side and flexible plastic on the back-or metal on both sides. Try not to let the metal side of the cable touch metal surfaces. Are you sure the cable is plugged in correctly? at both the controller port and the main board? Try removing and re-seating the cable.
Check on-line, I think there are web sites dedicated to reparing and modding PS2's.
Hope this helped!

Some one else broke it and tried to fix it prior to me. I will try the tape thing and get back to you. Thanks
