Is there any temporary auto insurance that comes into play when one remains within the country using the car and invalidates automatically when the car is not used?

I have never heard of a company that has that type of insurance but there are SO many companies that it is possible. I have State Farm and my truck blew a head so I called to see if I could temporarily cancel the insurance because I wasn't going to get it fixed right away. They said the only thing I could do was go to basic insurance, Otherwise I would have to reapply for insurance later.

You can put "Comprehensive only" on your vehicle which will cover it for theft, fire, vandalism, etc. When you drive it you will need to add liability and collision. Keep in mind that if you have a lien against the vehicle, you lender will require you keep full coverage on it.
