Hi everyone.

I have a door lock in my apartment, which just broke and I wanted to buy a new one, the same lock. But neither in Home depot or Lowes they don't have this lock, which I need.

It's door lock with outside knob opening with the key, inside is push and turn button. If the button is in locked position, it is no possible to turn the outside knob, unles you put the key in. After opening the door with the key and just puling the key out, the lock stays locked from outside.

Does anyone know the manufacturer, brand?
I found something on southernlock.com, VISALOCK, but not sure, if it is the right one.

Thanks, Henry.....

Hi acmetelka and welcome to the DIY board.
It sounds like you're talking about a knobset made by Schlage. They make an "A" series entrance set that operates by key on the outside, and by pushing in and turning the thumbpiece in the middle of the knob on the inside.
The part number is "A53PD" and is available in a variety of knob shapes as well as finishes. Most Locksmith shops carry them, and I've seen them available in some of the big box stores as well.

Hello Henry,

Yes, Visalock has an A53PD, (different part number though). We Install them every day, with no trouble. They are a copy of a Schlage A53PD, made in South America, and they are plenty durable. As far as finish and style, the come in plymouth, ball, and tulip styles. And the finish is available in brushed chrome, bright brass, antique brass.

That being said, the Schlage A53PD, as suggested by WGW, is the best of the two. IF you want quality over price, go with the Schlage. If you want price, go with Visalock. Either will be fine though.
