Well, I have opened a can of proverbial worms. My youngest son has asked for his own bedroom. (The two boys have been sharing a room since they were little.) So, being the good mommy, I asked him what colors he wants his room. He is adamant that he wants red, blue and green.....Anybody got some design ideas of how to paint this , so it won;t look like a train wreck? The bedroom is on the 2nd floor of our cottage, and the ceilings are low, and come down along the roof line. There really isn't a whole lot of wall space, a lot of ceiling. l appreciate anybody's thoughts..

it'll be easier to do his room if you'll find some bedding first. once some fabric and/or a theme is established, you'll be better able to decide on exact wall colors and where to place them. you'll have a harder time if you start randomly selecting colors & painting them here & there. bedding is much harder to find than paint, because you can have any paint tinted to any color in the rainbow. find the bedding first. (or wallpaper border, or area rug, or whatever).
red, blue & green (& probably yellow) are very bold colors. you might not want to use them on all the walls from floor to ceiling. depending on the bedding you find, you may decide that it'll be enough to just put one of those colors on either just one wall, or maybe just on the lower 3' of all the walls.

I appreciate the advice, that's a great idea...and MAYBE if I can get the bedding...I can steer him into one color...

depending on the pattern of the bedding you find, you may actually be able to use all 4 colors on the walls, but in a way that won't be too crazy: if you just have knee walls, paint each wall one solid color, and leave everything above that white. so you'll have the bottom 3' of one wall painted red, then 3' of the next wall painted green, the next yellow and the next blue. since it's only 3' up from the floor or so, and they're pretty large sections of one solid color, it would be really cute & colorful, but not crazy & chaotic. i've actually seen a room with regular 8' walls done this way, but with pastels, and it was really cute. (one whole wall lt pink, one wall pale yellow, one wall lt blue, one mint green). but since you're using bolder colors, i think i'd limit it to 3' up from the floor only.
